Welcome to the HIREVets resources webpage. This page is the primary outlet for employers to receive information from VETS about hiring veterans. The content on this page is updated regularly.
The criteria for recognition within the HIRE Vets Medallion Program varies by level (platinum or gold) and employer size (large, medium, or small). For more details about the criteria and to download a criteria table visit here.
The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act or the Act) was signed by President Trump on May 5, 2017. Pursuant to the Act, the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) developed and formalized the HIRE Vets Medallion Program to recognize employers of all sizes for their efforts to recruit, employ, and retain our nation’s veterans. A copy of the law is available here.
The Secretary announced the Final Rule (20 C.F.R. § 1011) on November 9, 2017 and it became effective in January 2018. This final rule sets out the criteria for the different categories and levels of HIRE Vets Medallion Awards, the award application process, and the award fees. A copy of the Final Rule is available here.
